Scholarship Criteria

Purpose

To provide support to junior and senior students currently enrolled in an accredited four-year institution whose unmet financial needs put them at-risk for temporarily discontinuing their studies or dropping out. Nominations will be accepted from school administrators, counselors and financial aid officers working directly with potential applicants from Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University and Georgia State University.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A current junior or senior enrolled full-time at Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University and Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia

  • Cumulative 2.75 grade point average or above

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Nomination form

  • Students are required to participate (if selected for advancement) in an in-person or telephone interview with an E. David and Linda C. Ballard Family Foundation representative for further consideration

Additional Information

  • Special consideration will be given to students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities, African Americans or other minorities and those especially vulnerable

  • Scholarship awards are made through a competitive process and are non-renewable

  • Students in need of additional support will be asked to reapply

  • The scholarship awards should be viewed as a fund of last resort and available for one academic year only.

  • Funding can be used only for tuition and fees

The Ballard Family Foundation Scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. Scholarship application instructions can be found on the Community Foundation website under the Community Impact Tab.
